How to Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Using Microsoft Authenticator on iPhone or Android

Before You Begin

You will need:

An iPhone or Android device
Your work email address and password
Internet access

Important: Do not delete Microsoft Authenticator until MFA has been successfully configured on a replacement device.

STEP 1: Open Your App Store

Open the application store on your device.

STEP 2: Install Microsoft Authenticator

1. Search for Microsoft Authenticator.
2. Select Get or Install.
3. Once installation is complete, open the application.

STEP 3: Add Your Work Account

1. Review the privacy notice and select Accept.
2. Select Continue.
3. Select Add work or school account.
4. Enter your work email address.
5. Select Sign In.

STEP 4: Sign In to Your Account

1. Enter your work password.
2. Select Sign In.
3. If prompted, select Open Browser.

STEP 5: Complete Browser Authentication

STEP 6: Continue Setup

When the More Information Required page appears, select Next.

STEP 7: Pair Your Account with Microsoft Authenticator

Select Pair your account to this app by clicking this link.
This securely connects your work account to Microsoft Authenticator without needing a QR code or a second device.

STEP 8: Reopen Microsoft Authenticator

When prompted, select Open to return to Microsoft Authenticator.

STEP 9: Allow Notifications

Select Allow when prompted.
Notifications are required for approving future sign-in requests.

STEP 10: MFA Setup Complete

Your work account should now appear in Microsoft Authenticator.
Select Done or Finish if prompted.

Using MFA After Setup

When signing in to Encore applications:

Enter your email address and password.
A notification will be sent to Microsoft Authenticator.
Open the notification.
Approve the sign-in request.
Complete number matching if prompted.

Microsoft Authenticator does not open after selecting the pairing link.
The pairing link does not work.
Your account does not appear in Microsoft Authenticator.
You are not receiving MFA notifications.
You have replaced or lost your phone.
